I'm not sure you fully understand what this forum is all about, it's not a cheep version of "anything". It's a "Free" platform for anyone who wishes to join, and interact with other like minded people with the same interests.
As far as adverts are concerned, I never see any, I have a free app. that blocks them.
This is not an alternative to other platforms, just a unique free site for anyone and everyone to enjoy.
I'm glad you found us, and decided to join our group, we are just starting, and welcome all new members, and encourage constructive comments on how to improve as we grow.

The Cat's Mother wrote:I would go along with that. There are a number of dealers that I have recommended along the way, but I almost certainly couldn't find the posts now. A compendium would be a really good idea. The only condition would be that the recommendation had to be made by someone who had used the site and been happy with the transaction, and that the post should be a 'warts and all' description.
That would be great and a list of wrong uns to steer clear of .

@Mcb2007 @The Cat's Mother General section can be used for a Sticky, and we can keep adding to it, I tried this before but no one was on board. If we are wanting a Directory listing of Dealers than we should start on a sticky, After that if it gains momentum and needs to be a separate section I will happily add one.
Crypto ??? of all the sections this might be on the way out. It is not being used and I will talk to the Moderator team.

I will see if there is any type of widget that I can add or put on the forum. The only problem is it will not calculate the total or convert it. But it could give a idea of how much a CAD ( Canadian Dollar ) EURO ( self explanatory ) USD ( United States Dollar ) GBP ( Pound UK )m&m prospecting wrote:I'm thinking maybe in the for sale section a currency converter for some that are interested in buying but don't use the pound or pence or dollar. Any thoughts
And the other issue is if I use a plugin for converting the money, It is then up to PayPal to then use its own calculations which is different.
But I will have a look and see how detailed it will need to be and what is realistic.

As TCM has stated I google 100usd to gbp Result 73.10 Pound sterling
And for USD to Gbp I will google 100 gbp to usd Result 136.79 United States Dollar
Please Note that the difference it has. And this can be very confusing and expensive or a Loss to either party. It also does not take on any of the Exchange rates which are then added. The above prices are the actual conversion, Any money service or bank will charge but may not say what the rate is. And PayPal is one of the worst! I use it but OMG The rates change by how you pay, the card you use, and so on. 3% adding on top of the cost is usually a loss. I found that it is about 4.5% which is horrible.

Hey @m&m prospecting I had a look into this to see if it was at all possible.m&m prospecting wrote:I understand just a mention I was thinking about no biggie if you don't feel it's worth it
The problems I faced was that this forum would have to have a account where sellers and buyers would use to be able to give a cost in various forums.
Such as my personal website www.acebullion.co.uk
There is no way to add a widget onto listings without an account that automatically converted over from Dollars to Pounds etc.
The only solution I could use is a widget to put on the top of the screen to add what the actual dollar to pound was. It does not give exchange rates or % of what companies like PayPal would charge.
I think it would be great and worth it if such a widget existed, but sadly at this time there is nothing I can implement onto the WordPress side of the forum to enable this to happen. As some sellers will use bank transfer or ask for friends and family.
Your idea is a good one, we just need someone in the world to make this a viable add on that is stable without the need of a account which I would be in control of, and that is something I am not prepared to do. The transactions remain between buyer and seller. I just host and pay for the forum. Adding on the additional responsibility would and could be a huge nightmare and also have legal ramifications.
So please keep on shooting the suggestions. They are all looked into and are always in the interest of all the members. I think this is a great idea but there is no such application that I can add on the forum at this time. It just does not exist.
