Secret Santa 2022

My Secret Santa gift arrived a while ago, and I have been very good and not opened it until today. It's a lovely big cat, a Roaring Lion of Judah in the most amazing intricately folded paper box. Beautiful.
I might organise another one next year.

Probably one of my favourite Pobjoy Coins other than Boaty McBoaty - many many thanks.
Now this gives me the opportunity to ask a question of you all that has been toying with my eunoia...
The soft plastic sealed envelopes Pobjoy has elected to use, should one keep their prize purchase/gift in this original package filled with Pobjoy atmosphere in which it was made or should it be whisked-away to a 'clean-room' (I mean that in a clinical not a clinical way) & placed into an airtight, scratch-proof armour plated capsule; frankly a normal coin capsule would suffice for this debate...

I am sure someone might be doing a video on one of these in the near future.. LOL but yes capsule... I hate plastic.. it tends to cause issues with the coin itself. When the temp gets that little bit too hot it bonds and causes marks on the coin. or if too cold it causes scratches.

Fukuoka is a prefecture in Japan. There is a set of coins, issued in 2016, dedicated to the 47 prefectures. Rod's is Fukuoka's.

I read the same dang thing.. the light bounced off it and it made me chuckle. I didnt want to say anything because I figured I was the only one who spotted it.

Its a bit like FUKUSHIMA but it is FUKUOKA instead.

I had a lovely Christmas, thanks. Santa, Secret and otherwise, was very kind to me, and I have enough chocolate to last until Easter* when the eggs come out. I hope you and Watson have now finished off all the turkey.

*First week in February if the supermarkets behave as usual.

When I was a worker I used to deal with Japan for very small stainless steel wire ropes, for window winder cables in cars and control cables in Aeroplanes.

I had a fax machine in a bedroom next to our bedroom. One night I heard it going, got up bleary eyed and saw that it was a message from a Mr TAKASHITA. I wondered if it was a piss take or real? He turned out to be the MD of ASAHI who make silver bars etc. We had a good laugh about it when I finally met him.

I remember Japanese women did not like Japanese men very much as they were not very romantic. They thought European men had more charisma! What!  Who are these men they were imagining?
