Beautiful coin on 1 side...Not so much on the other. I am sure this wont be popular but they really need to find a replacement for the queens mug. Only the Krug mug is more revolting.

Well, she is head of state so it sort of goes with the turf. I think she compares quite favourably with, for example, the image of Roosevelt on the dime.

I'm with you 100%, but that's the way our coinage works unfortunately. I accept it on British stuff, but find it rather sad/unfortunate on Commonwealth issues.

But on the bright side, it lets us display a coin collection or individual set without feeling like we need to buy an extra/duplicate just to show the obverse!

My tip is the QEII coins will shoot up, and previously unregarded coins like her early Sovereigns will start to be widely collected.

Yes definitely, I have all her pre-decimal stuff. That was one of my collections when I was a kid

Difference is the dime is meant for general circulation while the silver coins are not. But I would rather look at her mug than Charles.

The same portraits are on our circulated coins too, so it's pretty much the same idea, except the US doesn't have to by law as we do. You choose to do it, we have no choice

I think there are one or two series that will have that dilemma.  
Coinage in the UK - whether intended for general circulation or not - carries the image of the head of state. I entirely take the point about the next incumbent (although he has to be better to look at than Boris). It's a pity we can't have Kate.

That's definitely going to be fascinating, it'll be a completely new thing we have ever seen in our lifetimes! I'm not into the Tudors at all myself, but it could give a real boost to the series (or quite the opposite) short term. In the long term it might make them extremely desirable!

(I am still not buying though, it's a huge punt with a LOT of money for me right now.)

I completely agree. It's a shame for the Mint they lost Jody Clark. The Tudors...are not appealing to me, I think the design is terrible (though I did buy some BUNC Packs of the cupro-nickel as a low spend/speculative play, on the first one).

Jody Clark's designs where much better dont really collect RM anymore. i do get the britannias but its the quality you cant guarantee

Poor old Uncle Paul. Having been raised in South Africa I have a fondness for his mug. I’m surprised that they haven’t replaced it with a Mandela Rand yet. The only QE2 mug I am not keen on, is on the Canadian Maple. It’s a bit too crude and cartoonish.

Could be worse.
